Arts therapy provider Chroma is now providing the UK’s first Creative Arts Therapies (CATs) Expert Witness service in the UK to personal injury lawyers, to help secure the best rehabilitation package for their clients. The service launches using ALLDOQ so their expert witnesses can manage their cases easily in the cloud.
The new service enables legal teams access to independent expert witness testimony that helps put forward a strong case for the benefits of CATS within rehabilitation programmes and make clear how such therapies will improve victims’ quality of life and the costs.
The CATs encompass music, art and dramatherapy and either one (or more) can be used within a rehabilitation programme, depending on goals, to gain the best outcome for a client.

“Personal injury claims relating to brain injuries continue to rise, and a service such as this has been a necessity for a long time.

“This service will enable us to bring Expert Witness testimony to the forefront of the medico-legal sector and ensure that those involved in securing the claim, recognise the importance of such therapies to people’s lives.”
The CATs, when implemented alongside physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy (SLT), positively affect rehabilitation outcomes, supporting improvements in clients’ functional and cognitive abilities as well as their psychological wellbeing.
Consequently, the use of CATs has become commonplace in rehabilitation programmes, bringing about the need for Expert Witness evidence in cases where CATs may form a significant head of cost.
The service officially launches at a special event on Thursday February 22 at Conference Aston, Birmingham.
The event will feature expert speakers from the medico-legal field and neurologic music therapy sectors, including Richard William-Lees whose background in law brings a unique perspective and expertise to the field of medico-legal services, as well as being behind the expert witness platform ALLDOQ which Chroma will be using and Dr Corene Thaut whose work includes a diverse range of clinical populations including stroke, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, autism and psychiatric disorders.
